Different World Calendars: An Assignment for Students

There are many calendars used nowadays across the world like calendar 2010 or calendar 2011. Chinese New Year date changes per year. And the Canadian new year rings in every time at 12.00 AM on first of January. If you get students to do a project on the Gregorian calendar and ask them to compare it with other ones, you will find that some of them will get excited about the assignment as it will give them an opportunity to compare it with the Star Wars futuristic calendar. Even though the Star Wars calendar is fictional, this exercise will educate the students about many things like how calendars are made and the similarities and differences between them.
